Write for us

Golden News Review welcomes pitches that help readers notice and understand the patterns of rural landscapes without overstating what a place can tell us.

What we welcome

We consider original proposals about landforms, field patterns, waterways, weather and rural features. Strong ideas are specific, evergreen and useful to a general reader, with a clear reason the subject belongs in a countryside almanac.

What to include

Send a short summary of the proposed piece, its central idea, the reader it serves and why it can be covered carefully. Explain the scope and any important limits or uncertainties. A finished draft is not needed for an initial proposal.

Sending a pitch

Proposals are sent through the Contact page. Choose the editorial question option and include enough detail for us to understand the idea. A pitch is not a promise of publication, and we do not claim to offer assignments or payment terms here.

Our point of view

A landscape is never just a view

The countryside carries clues in its contours, boundaries and seasonal changes. We look for those clues with curiosity, and leave room for what a view alone cannot tell us.
